01 Overview

The Boring Websites Blog is a small collection of static pages. It has no accounts, no logins, no contact forms, and no server that stores what you read. This page explains the limited data that may be involved when you visit, mainly through third-party advertising and analytics, and the terms under which the site is offered.

02 Information we collect

We do not directly collect personal information. The site has no sign-up and no first-party data collection beyond the analytics described below. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically process standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and request time) to deliver the pages and protect against abuse. This is handled by the host, not by us.

03 Cookies & advertising

This site may display ads served by Google AdSense. To do so, Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies.

A cookie notice appears on your first visit. Until you choose Accept all, ads are requested as non-personalized. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key bwb-consent and is never sent to us. You can change it any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer. In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, consent is handled by Google's certified consent management platform, which takes precedence over the notice above and records your choices under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework.

04 Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic across the Boring Websites network, such as which pages are read and how visitors move between the sites. A cross-domain measurement setting lets a hop from one site in the ring to another count as a single visit. The data is aggregated and is not used to identify you. Your advertising choice above also governs whether this measurement is personalized. You can install Google's opt-out browser add-on to opt out of Analytics entirely.

05 Terms of use

The site is provided as is, for personal, non-commercial enjoyment. The writing and artwork are the work of the site's author; please do not republish them wholesale, though short quotations with a link back are welcome. Links to other sites in the network and elsewhere are provided for convenience, and we are not responsible for their content.

Everything here is made for fun. The essays describe how a few small toy websites work; they are not professional advice of any kind. We make no warranty that the site will be available, error-free, or uninterrupted.
